Mechanical Engineering Magazine: Turning CAD Files into PDF Documents
Capability: Bluebeam Pushbutton PDF™ provides scalable PDF drawings from the AutoCAD software application
from Autodesk of San Rafael, Calif. The PDF software is useful for engineers and architects who furnish
CAD drawings to clients, subcontractors, or governmental regulating agencies. It can be used to
distribute and approve CAD drawings electronically. It also allows all project team members, internal
and external, to view, e-mail, electronically approve, or locally print drawings. Users can create PDF
files directly from the CAD file, determine the best conversion settings for resolution, line widths,
and font embedding, automatically transfer hyperlinks from the CAD drawing to the PDF drawings, transfer
block attributes or file properties from the CAD drawing to the PDF drawing, add custom properties for
text searches, embed data files within the PDF drawing as compressed attachments, and create digital
signature boxes on the PDF drawing.
Hardware: PC running Windows 95, 98, 2000, or NT.
