Bluebeam PDF Revu

In some instances, it is necessary to restart part of Bluebeam PDF Revu. If the Save As dialog does not display after clicking Create File in Revu or OK in the PDF Printer, and if nothing happens after starting the PDF conversion process, the Port Monitor needs to be restarted.

The Port Monitor, also called BBPrint.exe (or BbPrtMon.exe, microbrew.exe or Microbrw2.exe in previous versions), is a key part of Bluebeam PDF Revu and the Bluebeam PDF printer. PDF files will not be generated if this process is not running.

If you are creating PDF files using the Bluebeam PDF printer, Bluebeam Stapler or 'Create PDF' within Revu:

  • Launch the Bluebeam Administrator. Click Start > All Programs > Bluebeam Software > Bluebeam Administrator.
  • On the Printer tab, click the Restart button.
  • Ensure the Prompt for file name and Open in viewer settings are checked.
  • Click OK. A Save As dialog may display for each PDF conversion that did not complete.
  • Click Cancel to abort any duplicate or unwanted conversions.

If you are creating PDF files using the plugins for Office, AutoCAD or SolidWorks:

  • Open the file in Office, AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • On the ribbon, click Bluebeam then click Change Settings.
  • Ensure the Prompt for file name and Open in viewer settings are checked.
  • Click Create File.

In some instances, the folder where the Bluebeam writes temporary files also needs to be cleaned out before restarting the Port Monitor.

To clean Bluebeam temporary folders and restart the PDF Service:

  • Launch the Bluebeam Administrator. Click Start > All Programs > Bluebeam Software > Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Logging tab, click Clear Temp, and then Explore. The Bluebeam Software folder will open.
  • Delete all of the .pdf, .mxb, .ps and .psB files in the folder. Do not delete the .log or text files.
  • Open the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Bluebeam Software\Print Jobs

      - or -

C:\ProgramData\Bluebeam Software\Print Jobs, under Windows Vista or 7.

  • Open the folder that has your Windows user name.
  • Delete all of the files in this folder.
  • Return to the Administrator and click Restart.
